Services
Precision Geoarchaeology, Inc. offers a variety of services embedded in
rigorous geoarchaeological methods that are
efficient, relevant, and economical.
Phase I
-
Coring and deep testing.
-
Archaeological monitoring.
-
Reconstruction of landscape history by detecting and defining pre-human occupation landforms and determining the relative age of Holocene landforms that potentially contain sites with integrity.
-
Development of predictive models for locating sites.
-
Evaluation of site preservation of potential sites for Phase II investigations.
-
Stratigraphic recording.
-
Ceramic petrography and lithic sourcing from Shovel and Deep Testing artifacts (i.e., determine if local or imported sources).
-
Micromorphological analysis to support landscape and paleoenvironmental reconstructions.

Phase II
-
Efficient and detailed analysis of site integrity, vertical distribution, and depth of archaeological sites.
-
Refine site preservation of specific sites.
-
Stratigraphic recording of deep testing.
-
Define site boundaries and sterile units through stratigraphic and micromorphological analysis.
-
Detect the potential location for deeper archaeological sites.
-
Ceramic petrography and lithic sourcing from Deep Testing pottery.
-
Initiate regional correlations of artifacts and stratigraphy to additional known sites within a region.
Phase III
-
High resolution analysis of specific site context, preservation, and microstratigraphy.
-
Determine if a site has multiple components through analysis of microstratigraphy.
-
Ceramic petrography and fabric analysis from Phase III excavated pottery (i.e., determine if local or imported based on fabric and temper).
-
Lithic sourcing of Phase III excavated lithics.
-
Initiate regional correlations of artifacts and stratigraphy to other known sites.
-
Detection of specific landscape and/or human responses (e.g., settlement patterns) to regional and local landscape and/or paleoenvironmental change.
